Facebook opens profiles to public

Facebook has apparently opened up. Unfortunately, it's probably now a bit too open. Rather than opening up profiles to everyone, wouldn't it have made more sense to allow people with OpenIDs, holders of Google accounts, or Windows Live ID users to access Facebook profiles?

UPDATE: I accessed my Facebook account today, and noticed that I was able to edit my 'search privacy' settings to uncheck the boxes that would enable the sharing of my profile with the world. That's good.
